Sam Vokes will play in Leeds quarter final tonight

Leeds will have Grimsby as guests tonight for the area quarter finals of Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. Last they met Darlington, the team at the bottom of League Two, and now the competition is hardened as Grimsby Town is situated one place over Darlo in the tables.

Wolves out on lone striker Sam Vokes is a much appreciated guest at Leeds and will surely play from start tonight together with another on loan player, Max Gradel from Leicester, who might be heading back to his club if the Leeds manager can’t persuade Leicester’s ditto to let him play with them for another month.

Simon Grayson’s Leeds seem to have a good chance of going forward in the cup, but of course you never know for sure. Leeds has the advantage of not having to think about resting players, as the league game next weekend is postponed.

However Vokes have a match on Saturday for Wales against Scotland. It’s just a friendly, but a good guess is that he will just play for one half of the game against Grimsby. But the Leeds crowd shouldn’t really be too disappointed if that happens, as Sam Vokes has been a supersub for Wolves and has scored on numerous occasions coming in late to play.

Paddy hopes, as always, that Vokes will have a nice evening and that he scores a couple for the Whites.

Paddy will of course be back to report on how Sam did in the match.
