McCarthy: Chelsea are the best team in the league

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy talks to Wolves official site about Chelsea.

“I think Arsenal are the best footballing team in the league but I think Chelsea are the best team in the league. That’s a nice two games in a row to have! The table suggests that Chelsea have been the strongest team and they are on top. But we will always try to be positive whoever we play. I can’t see any point in not being positive because we were fine against Arsenal for 28 minutes until we gave a free kick away which led to the corner they scored from, which was very un-Arsenal like. Then they settled and picked us apart. Of course a game is about 90 minutes and we could have got a real ‘do-ing’, but instead we had a real go at them and I’d prefer to take the positives out of it in that we can play.”

“I was really pleased with the players because they kept going and they do embrace these games. They will improve from coming up against these teams and then hopefully we can do better against the teams who are in and around us. We’re not experiencing anything that we didn’t expect – we got here knowing how hard it was going to be.”

About Chelsea’s clean sheet record

“Nine clean sheets in a row? I don’t really know what to say to that. They’re the best team in the league and arguably champions-elect. Manchester United will have something to say about that and Arsenal, but at the moment they’re the strongest team.”

About alleged injuries among the Chelsea squad

“I don’t know if Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack or Didier Drogba are fit and until I actually see their teamsheet at 2pm on Saturday, I won’t take any notice of all the stuff that’s going around. I’ve had that before – you hear someone is out and someone else is out and someone is struggling and then find they’ve got one change to the team because of ‘international duty’. There might one or two that people don’t think will play that in the end actually do.”
