Thierry Henry: It would have been better to do it in another way

Thierry Henry admitted to the press after the match that he had handled the ball to get control.

I will be honest, it was a handball. But I’m not the ref. I played it. The ref allowed it. That’s a question you should ask him.

We suffered for two years, we have been having some problems with our press, our fans, with other people. It would have been better to do it in another way, but as I said, I’m not the ref.’

If they had got through it wouldn’t have been robbery. We have a lot of respect for this team. We knew they play long and like a physical battle. You saw tonight that they are a very good team. I played eight years in England and I can tell you they are.

  1. The old adage “Cheats never prosper” doesn’t seem to apply to modern day football any more! Too many games are being decided not by skill but by cheating and inept referrees and it is killing the game.

    • Yes I agree. Perhaps it’s time to use modern technology more in the sport – or a fourth referee constantly looking at the goal line. I feel sorry for Doyle and the other Irishmen in Wolves today. It was not fair!
