Loan Watch: Ikeme in wind and rain

Rainy and windy everywhere. That’s the common denominator wherever our out on loan players conducted their business yesterday. And it was the same when Charlton met Yeovil.

In Charlton our goalie Carl Ikeme resides. He has had some tough times there earlier and there has been rumours that he is wanted by the Blades, but I doubt he’ll go anywhere this season.

Charlton played Yeovil away and Ikeme was in action after only two minutes, saving a shot. Charlton went one player down after only half an hour when Sam Sodje was sent out after a professional foul for bringing down Ryan Mason of Yeovil. Ikeme blocked the following free-kick. With ten men Charlton fought heroically in the rain with the wind against them, but Ikeme had to let a ball into his net in the last minute of the first half when Tottenham loanee Obika raced away and slid a shot beyond him.

After the warming tea Charlton came out with the wind in their backs and they added Sam Sodjes brother Akpo among their ten men on the pitch and he scored just before the hour to save the family honor. After that the 10 men Charlton team had chances to win the match. But at the end the match went to a draw.
