Mick on Mark Davies: He was very highly thought of here

Mick McCarthy says that there are no hard feelings between him and Mark Davies, now in Bolton, according to the official site.

Mark’s been in and out, he’s been a sub quite a bit. He was very highly thought of here. Then he had loads of injuries and then didn’t play a great deal of football. Things happen in football clubs. He’d hardly played a game but he’s happy up there and good luck to him.

Mick also talks about his thoughts about the clash against Bolton on Saturday and their manager Gary Megson

I’m friendly with Gary, he’s a good lad. I played against him for years and I’ve managed against him. He’s still fighting a battle, like myself and everybody else!

It’s amazing how, at this moment in time, they’ll be feeling low and dejected, as we are and yet a victory turns it around. They had a good run, lost a couple then suddenly there’s two points in it and people start to feel the pain a little bit. It’s our turn at the minute, but it will be somebody else’s turn.

It’s about time we didn’t get on with anybody, isn’t it? It’s down to us – to me and the players – to create a spark, absolutely. We can’t rely on people to keep turning up and setting us off, it’s down to us to create the spark.
