Injury report: Zubar still on the sidelines

Wolves issued an injury report today and it’s some wine and some water – mostly water, really.

Zubar and Iwelumo are going to step up their training, but are not fully fit to play yet. Kightly is under the knife today. Halford and Maierhofer has some issues to. And we already know that Murray has a long way back. And – of course – Wardy is back. Mick McCarthy:

He’s one of the nicest blokes I’ve ever met in football and one of the toughest as well. He doesn’t go around kicking people but physically he’s a hard and tough competitor who puts a shift in and does everything 100 per cent.

Kights is having his operation today. It could actually have been worse in terms of the length of his absence – there was nothing wrong with the tackle but it was just the way he went over. He was very down on the day he found out but then very soon back at it and chirpy. There is an opportunity for someone in that position because for anyone who gets in and plays well possession is nine tenths of the law.

I didn’t realise that Zubars injury would take such a long time to heal. That’s a pity. But Ward is back and that will probably mean that Ward will be playing on the left and Stearman on the right back tomorrow.
