Loan Watch: Carl Ikeme saved Blades win against Plymouth

Sheffield United – where our third goalie Carl Ikeme resides nowadays – nicked a lucky win yesterday against Plymouth Argyle away.

But had it not been for some early heroics from on-loan Carl Ikeme in his first game for the Blades, Plymouth could have gained all three of the points as first Rory Fallon and then Ashley Barnes, in the third and eighth minute, forced the Wolves goalkeeper into smart saves from 12 yards out.

The match was not decided until the 88th minute when Harper picked the ball up 25 yards out and drilled an angled shot past Romain Larrieu in the Argyle goal to steal the points for the Blades.

It looks like Carl played the whole match, but one comment says that Ikeme got a hamstring injury as he stretched for a ball at the end of the match. Hopefully though, he will play again on Tuesday at home against Forest.

  1. got a hamstring injury but we had no sub keeper, so he carried on for the last 10 minutes. doesn’t look like he’s going to make it for tuesday night though.
