Ward: Beating Bolton has given the lads a lot of confidence

Stephen Ward has received a lot of praise after coming back from injury. And rightly so. He is one of the players that has set the tone for the positive play that we could see at Molineux in the weekend. He has talked to Birmingham Mail about his own and the teams performances.

It was massive to get a win and the place is buzzing again. The fans were superb and I thought all the lads showed what we’re all about. It was a vital win and we needed it to lift the place. We were so disappointed after the previous Sunday and everyone was down – there was a real feeling of doom and gloom about the place. But I think Saturday’s performance was different class and, right from the start, you could see how much it meant to the boys. We showed a lot of people how much we want to stay in this league and if we continue to put in performances like that, we’ve got every chance.

Stephen Ward talks about his own contribution in the match

‘‘My main aim was just to get back fit and thankfully I contributed on Saturday and last week. I just wanted to make a difference and hopefully I can keep it going. I really enjoyed the game because I thought I put in a really good team performance.

About the team performance and Jody Craddock

Everyone was outstanding and we scored two good goals. Jody Craddock’s on fire at the moment, so I don’t think we’ve heard the last of him in front of goal! It was important to put in a team performance and you could see how much it meant to the players, staff, and, of course, the fans.

Beating Bolton has given the lads a lot of confidence. After losing to Birmingham, the lads were a bit down. But we had a really good week where we cleared the air. We know it was down to us to make something happen and the performance we put in merited the three points.
