Probable team line-ups Tottenham v Wolves

I believe both teams will play in a 4-4-2 formation.

Tottenham: Cudicini is injured as well as King and Woodgate. Modric is on his way back and will probably figure as a sub and maybe Giovani as well. Palacios has a rib injury and is doubtful, but I think he will start.

Wolves: Zubar is on his way back but not yet 100%. Keogh injured in training yesterday. Kightly out injured until January and Jones back soon. Iwelumo back in squad after injury and may play the last 10-30 minutes.

I think that Wolves want change much in their team. It worked well against Bolton and may work well again.

Keane has not played for a couple of games and now Spurs are meeting his old team. I think he will get a chance from start instead of Crouch. I think Defoe with pair up with him, because to rest him after he missed that penalty would seem like a punishment. And he is after all the best striker in the Premier right now.

These are the teams I think we will see starting at White Hart Lane tomorrow:

I put Defoe as the referee of the match 😆 but I hope that this will not happen.

Substitutes Spurs: Alnwick, Naughton, Bale, Giovani, Modric,  Pavlyuchenko, Crouch

Substitutes Wolves: Hennessey, Foley, Mancienne, Castillo, Halford, Iwelumo, Maierhofer

Referee: Atwood

  1. Yeh, that is probably what MM will go with, however I would put Michael Mancienne in and have SEB on the bench. Play Mancienne in front of the back four with Karl Henry so you would have 4-2-3-1. This would allow cover for the defence/midlfield and also allow Ward and Stearman to push forward when the opportunity arises allowing Manc/Henry to cover these two.

    • I’m not so sure about Mancienne’s capacity as a defensive midfielder, but you may be right. I would put Castillo there instead and if Keogh hadn’t been injured I would have played him to the right in midfield and let SEB rest. Now maybe Surman would be a good choice on the left and Jarvis could change sides.

But McCarthy will for sure stick with what he knows works – or did work against Bolton anyway. But what works against Bolton doesn’t have to work against Spurs. Our chances are slim, but that doesn’t mean that we will not take them. 😆

  2. I was thinking more of Mancienne covering the centre backs mainly. The pace of the front men of Spurs is my concern. Yes, I thought of Castillo but he seems to lack pace. UTW !
