Robbie Keane, Tottenham: McCarthy is a tremendous manager

Robbie Keane spoke to the official broadcast channel of Tottenham Hotspurs today. He spoke very appreciatively about Mick McCarthy as a manager and also about Wolves as a club.

I know Mick McCarthy very well and I know how he gets his players going – he’s a tremendous manager and a great motivator. He was fantastic at the World Cup in 2002, and the Wolves players who are with him at the moment all love him too. He’s an honest manager and you know exactly what he wants from you and he’s done brilliant with Wolves.

If we think for one moment that we just have to turn up at White Hart Lane to win, then we’ve got another thing coming. If we stick to the way we’re playing at the moment, we should get the three points. But it doesn’t matter how we get them, the most important thing is to win the match and we’ll be ready for Wolves, no question.

Wolves will always be in my heart because as a kid leaving Dublin to go over there was difficult, but to have Wolves and the people there looking after me was brilliant. I’ve got fond memories of that. I’ve got great memories of Wolves, they gave me my first chance in professional football and I owe them a great deal.

And we got great memories of you, Robbie! You’re welcome back to us anytime.

  1. So why don’r you come home Robbie. As you are getting on you are not the same as when you were younger so the wages have to come down too. With you in the team I’m sure Wolves will survive in the Premiership. You got your taste of Celtic now come back to the club that made you what you are.
With other Irish lads like Kevin Dowle, Stephen Ward, Stephen Hunt and Kevin Foley, every day is like a gathering for an Irish training session and with the manager too who you heaped great praise on him.
