Ward: There’s no better winger in the league than Lennon in Spurs

Stephen Ward is the man who has applied for the job to stop Aaron Lennon tomorrow. And of course he will get the job. The others will not even get to the interview. Here is what he says to the official site about Mr Lennon and the match against Tottenham.

You want to test yourself against these players. There’s probably no better winger in the league at the moment than Aaron Lennon – he’s probably England’s first choice as well. If selected it will be a nice test for me to see how I do. He’s probably one of their biggest danger men and we’ll approach the game knowing that as we don’t go into games with a blank sheet of paper not expecting what he brings to their team. We understand he’s a big outlet for them and that the less he gets on the ball the better it is for us. If we can stop him from getting the ball then that will help us in one way from keeping them out. Everyone wants to play against these players, we’ve worked so hard to get here and have already come up against some top players so far this season.

About the match against Tottenham

Obviously it will be a tough game but we have to go there with confidence after our result against Bolton. Spurs are riding high themselves at the moment but after Saturday’s performance hopefully we can go there and give a good account of ourselves and get something from the game. It will be important to keep things tight early on and stay in the game as long as we can. There’s no doubt it’s going to be very difficult in front of their home fans as well but if we can frustrate them then maybe we can start to impose our own game on them. That would give us a chance.
