Wolves: Ratings of the players


I will try to leave my player ratings for the match against Tottenham. I want to point out that it’s my very own subjective measurements of the players efforts. I will only rate the starting eleven. Mick McCarthy gets a tenner. His pick of the team and coaching was spot on.

Hahnemann – 9 – Did nothing wrong and everything right. Seem to impose a calm on the back line. Has strengthen his position as the nr 1.

Stearman – 6 – Is very good in clearing the ball and a lot of other things, but has some deficiencies technically

Craddock – 8 – It is fantastic to watch him play with confidence. I was a little worried that he would be to slow for a Tottenham attack in high speed, but he anticipates everything and is king of the air.

Berra – 7 – He was close to give Wolves a second goal after a corner, but just missed the header. He clicks well with Craddock.

Ward – 9 – My Man Of The Match. Where was that Lennon guy?

Jarvis – 7 – Worked back like hell, but didn’t get his usual runs forward as frequent as he uses to. But saved us once or twice tracking back.

Milijas – 8 – He did it again! His a world star at set pieces. Hard ones with a curl. Is not a world beater in play but holds his place in the middle.

Henry – 8 – I thought before the match that he would have a difficult time to give Wolves an edge in the middle against fierce competition, but he managed to get a foothold. Well done, captain!

Edwards – 7 – A real blow when he got injured. He works like hell up and down and connects well with the inner midfield and the back-line.

Ebanks-Blake – 6 – Had a couple of shots close. But does in my opinion not enough in positioning. Worked back good when Tottenham pressured at the end of the match.

Doyle – 7 – Worked like hell as usual. Or maybe more. The flick on the goal of course and the working back. But he needs a target man besides him.

  1. Didn’t see the game, but delighted to see Ward’s delivering in the premiership. Who’d have thought he’d get transformed from that terrible striker we had 3-4 years ago into a top-class full back?

    Any chance of posting a link to the highlights again Paddy?

  3. I disagree regarding Ebanks-Blake, i though he had one of his better games, he worked really hard and held the ball up well with both Doyle and Iwelumo. my rating for ebanks was a 7.

    Credit must go to Mick McCarthy for bringing on Mancienne to man-mark Modric. He along with Lennon are spurs most influential players and the team stopped them from playing!

    Would agree with Stephen Ward as man of the match I think he was probably a Kangaroo in a previous life with Lennon in his pouch..He provides an atacking threat which takes the presure of the defence. All our previous Left backs this season have sat too deep.
