Wolves: Ratings of the players

I will try to leave my player ratings for the match against Tottenham. I want to point out that it’s my very own subjective measurements of the players efforts. I will only rate the starting eleven. Mick McCarthy gets a tenner. His pick of the team and coaching was spot on.

(P.S. A link to a video with the goal can be found beneath ‘Videos, Highlights’ in the sidebar.D.S.)

Hahnemann – 9 – Did nothing wrong and everything right. Seem to impose a calm on the back line. Has strengthen his position as the nr 1.

Stearman – 6 – Is very good in clearing the ball and a lot of other things, but has some deficiencies technically

Craddock – 8 – It is fantastic to watch him play with confidence. I was a little worried that he would be to slow for a Tottenham attack in high speed, but he anticipates everything and is king of the air.

Berra – 7 – He was close to give Wolves a second goal after a corner, but just missed the header. He clicks well with Craddock.

Ward – 9 – My Man Of The Match. Where was that Lennon guy?

Jarvis – 7 – Worked back like hell, but didn’t get his usual runs forward as frequent as he uses to. But saved us once or twice tracking back.

Milijas – 8 – He did it again! His a world star at set pieces. Hard ones with a curl. Is not a world beater in play but holds his place in the middle.

Henry – 8 – I thought before the match that he would have a difficult time to give Wolves an edge in the middle against fierce competition, but he managed to get a foothold. Well done, captain!

Edwards – 7 – A real blow when he got injured. He works like hell up and down and connects well with the inner midfield and the back-line.

Ebanks-Blake – 6 – Had a couple of shots close. But does in my opinion not enough in positioning. Worked back good when Tottenham pressured at the end of the match.

Doyle – 7 – Worked like hell as usual. Or maybe more. The flick on the goal of course and the working back. But he needs a target man besides him.

Kevin Doyle flicking in Milijas excellent delivery in the third minute

  1. Didn’t see the game, but delighted to see Ward’s delivering in the premiership. Who’d have thought he’d get transformed from that terrible striker we had 3-4 years ago into a top-class full back?

Any chance of posting a link to the highlights again Paddy?

  2. A link to a video with the goal can be found beneath ‘Videos, Highlights’ in the right sidebar now, Bob.

  3. I disagree regarding Ebanks-Blake, i though he had one of his better games, he worked really hard and held the ball up well with both Doyle and Iwelumo. my rating for ebanks was a 7.

Credit must go to Mick McCarthy for bringing on Mancienne to man-mark Modric. He along with Lennon are spurs most influential players and the team stopped them from playing!

Would agree with Stephen Ward as man of the match I think he was probably a Kangaroo in a previous life with Lennon in his pouch..He provides an atacking threat which takes the presure of the defence. All our previous Left backs this season have sat too deep.
