Mick McCarthy: No passengers on the pitch

Mick McCarthy announced at today’s press conference that there will be some chances to the team that will play Manchester United tomorrow.

There will be a couple of changes tomorrow. We get the players to give a rating in terms of their workrate and the difficulty of the game and the one against Tottenham was a nine or ten in terms of their energy levels. And if we don’t work at that nine to 10 level we won’t beat Tottenham at Tottenham.

But one or two were really ‘leggy’ at the end and we’re having to play at levels nine and 10 of difficulty and I don’t think we can do that. What’s been a real difference is that there have been no passengers on the pitch in the last two games at all. If we’re carrying someone or we’re under par, we’ll get beat, that’s the way it is. I’ll have a look at them all today and we’ll see how they are before making my mind up.”

Andy Keogh is due for surgery tomorrow and Edwards will soon be under the knife too as it seems

It’s looking like Dave might need an operation and it could be eight to ten weeks as well but we’ll know more later.
