Loan Watch: Will any Wolves defenders play in the Essex derby?

Essex derby tomorrow when Southend and Colchester clash against each other in League One.

And Wolves has a little interest in both of these teams. With left back Scott Malone out on-loan to Southend and central defenderDanny Batth enjoying the same status in the U’s.

But will any of these players really play tomorrow at Roots Hall? The Shrimpers boss Tilson has probably been on the phone to Mick McCarthy today, hoping that Mick McCarthy can and will compete with Santa and give them Scott Malone for another month as a Christmas gift.

For Danny Batth the situation is completely different. He is probably hoping that Andy Boothroyd – manager of Colchester – is Santa and will pick him as a starter against the Shrimpers. Who of our young defenders, if any, will then play tomorrow?

I think that Tilsaon will succeed in getting the loan of Malone extended, so he will probably play in the Essex derby. I don’t think that Danny Batth will get a chance tomorrow, though, but very possibly on Monday when the U’s will meet with Leyton Orient. When the matches are this close to each other, smart managers are wise to follow Mick McCarthy’s’ remedy and rotate some of the players in their teams.
