Probable team lineups: Liverpool FC vs Wolves

I think that the Wolves starting eleven against Liverpool today will be the same team that played Burnley with success. Despite Wolves playing Manchester City in two days. McCarthy and the physios will check the players for vital signs 😆 after the game to determine which players are up to play against City.

At first I thought that playing a 4-5-1-formation would be an option for McCarthy, but it’s been a long time since Wolves tried that, and not with great success.

Liverpool will play their usual 4-2-3-1-formation. On paper it looks a little too defensive, but don’t get fooled by that. In reality there are four players playing as forwards and as I have said in an earlier article (HERE), the stats shows that the midfielders supposed to play in a holding role goes forward as well.

Benitez has been ‘whispering’ about Kuyt needing a rest. I think that rest will come against Wolves. With Mascherano out Aquilano will have a rare chance to take a position in the starting eleven. I was a little hesitant about Torres. He may be rested to play against Villa and Ngog will have the striker role instead.

If Liverpool do that we certainly know that Benitez is underestimating Wolves (see article about that HERE). But the more probable scenario is that Liverpool will play with Torres at top from start, hoping for a couple of early goals so that he can be rested.

Paddytheflea had the starting 22 correct against Tottenham and Burnley. Will this prediction be correct as well?
