Loan Watch: Batth on the bench in U’s record loss

As said before the Doncaster match against Brentford in the FA Cup was postponed due to a frozen pitch. So Jason Shackell did not play.

In Chesterfield Mark Little had a very disappointing Saturday afternoon as his team lost against Shrewsbury despite being one more on the pitch for an hour. Little himself had a good chance on goal in the 55th minute, but was denied by the Shrewsbury keeper.

And then it was of course the matter of the old Roman stronghold. Colchester were totally smashed to pieces by Championship team Preston. But Danny Batth was on the bench for the whole 90 minutes of the defeat by 7-0 so he can’t be blamed for the biggest defeat of the U’s in their FA-Cup history.

Scott Malone has not played as Southend has not played. But I’ve found an interesting interview from tribalfootball when the Southend star player Christophe says about Malone:

I don’t know him that well but we had a good laugh at the Christmas Party together. As a footballer though I think he’s a very good left back and I think he’ll go far.

Jones in Notts, then? Frozen pitch there as well, I’m afraid.
