Fifa and Sepp Blatter are completely impotent and obsolete

The International footballing association Fifa today decided to do nothing about Thierry Henry’s handball against Ireland in the llay-offs to the World Cup.

Fifa’s statement reads:

Handling the ball cannot be regarded as a serious infringement as stipulated in the Fifa disciplinary code. There is no other legal text that would allow the committee to impose sanctions for any incidents missed by match officials.

The injustice that broke a nations heart and hopes will not be addressed by Fifa in any other way. They probably hope that time will heal the wounds and the bad reputation the association has suffered for the handling of the case.

Republic of Ireland defender Sean S:t Ledger comments on the decision for the BBC:

I’m shocked but not surprised really. Obviously I don’t want to see players getting banned but at the same time it promotes, ‘if you can get away with it, then do it’. I saw it [the handball] again today and I still believe the second time he intentionally handballed it. Across the board we are all hurt from it.

I think it’s appalling that Fifa said they’ve got no legal foundation but they still have the power to change the rules and introduce the seedings. If they’ve got the power to change that rule I don’t understand why they haven’t got the power to change the rule here. So, confusing but not surprising.”

I am just a little flea, but I must protest against Fifa’s handling of this from beginning to end. This is not acceptable and will stain the sport of football and Fifa forever. Fifa had a final chance to make a little justice and compensate Ireland for the injustice made, but they didn’t take it.

Sepp Blatter must be voted off from power in international football right now. He will always be remembered for this and his epitaph will be recognised by the grave diggers – as he is one of them.

  1. Yes, whatever happened to FIFA’s “Fair Play” campaign??? Lets all cheat then, whenever we get the chance.
