Belgian youngster signed! One or two more on their way

Wolves has taken the Belgian attacking midfielder Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, 20, on loan with an option to buy in summer.

Bia is a fast attacking midfielder who seem to be a good dribbler and he has a good shot as well. Look at the video below.

According to the Wolves Official site Bia arrived last Saturday and have trained with the team and undergone a medical before signing. On Wikipedia they say that Birmingham has snatched him from under our noses, but I think that’s a prank by a B’ham supporter.

Here is what Bia himself said to the Official Wolves site:

“I first heard about the interest a couple of weeks ago and am very happy to have signed. “I’ve played in England once before with Belgium under-21s and it’s been my dream to play in the Premier League. It was good to meet the manager this week and I’m looking forward to playing for him.

McCarthy said:

He’s a player who Taff (Ian Evans) has been tracking for a while and will add some creativity and firepower to our squad. He’s an attacking midfielder who can play on the right or the left as well as centrally.

Jez Moxey sounds delighted:

We are very pleased to have Geoffrey. He comes to us with excellent credentials and because he is only 20 years, he has enormous potential. He is highly respected in Belgium and regarded as one of their most talented young players. This has been a difficult transfer window so far but we hope at least one or maybe two players will follow this signing.

A little bit more about Bia from the Stats:
He will take squad number 25 in Wolves
He has scored seven goals in 48 appearances in the Belgian First Division with Charleroi.
He has scored twice in six games for the Belgian under-21 team.
He has two cups so far for the Belgian Senior team

He looks very good on the video and is certainly a player for the future. But we can not expect him to help us out from this crisis?! Or can we? The Official say that he may play against Palace on Saturday if he gets the papers ready. Interesting times! But I am not going to put all of my hopes to this boy.

  1. Well he certainly looks very quick! Off course the standard he has been playing is a lot different from the Prem. I am looking forward to seeing him in action, we may have made a very decent signing here.

  2. This is good news! My impression from the video above, he looks class, almost complete. He looks better in the second half of the video, more clinical. And I guess he’s even stronger now. The future looks bright if we maintain our place in premiership. The french prospects seemed like the same sort of players. Exiting times…

  3. Liked his speed and directness. Think he will add something different and look forward to seeing him play.

  4. we have enough youngsters at the moment, lets get some experience in the team we need out and out strikers who can put the ball in the net at the moment we havent and this could be our downfall and back to the championship.

    • I agree. I’m a little bit scared that McCarthy has so great hopes for the guy to make an impression immediately.

  5. […] This does not sound like the ordinary McCarthy way. Is he getting desperate? As i said before (HERE) it is not smart to put all your hopes into one young mans performance. He looks good on the […]
