Probable Lineups: Hull vs Wolves

Typical! When trying to write down the team lineups in my special programme it broke down and I can not get it up and working again. So you have to do without the professional graphics this time.

Hull as well as Wolves have signed some new players in the transfer window. I think that some of them (Zaki and the two Belgians in Wolves) will get some playing time. But not as starters.

We are dealing with two down to earth traditional managers here. And friends Brown and McCarthy will be cautious when picking their teams. Nothing new will be tested from start in this game and nothing will be allowed to jeopardize the point the teams have from start. Conserve is the word.

I think Hull will start with a 4-1-4-1-formation. Something they have used before several times. The fans will not be happy with this defensive approach by Mr Brown, but they will forgive him if he collects three points after 90 minutes.

And McCarthy will launch exactly the same formation. It worked well against Liverpool at home and he has said today that ‘we won’t be going to Hull and being gung-ho’ and he seem to believe that Hull will play with five midfielders.

But as that is said I do believe that we will see changes to these cautious formations after some time in the game. Zaki could come into the game and a midfielder could be dropped and a second striker could come in for Wolves as well – or McCarthy could change Foley for Geoffrey Mujangi.

Both of the teams needs three points from this game and they will try hard to snatch them without weaken their defences. First goal will win the match. Easy as that.

O.K. Let us look at the teams then. Without the usual green field.

  1. i personally think that it may turn into 4-2-3-1 same players but henry and mancienne sitting infront of defence -we must not lose this one!!!

    • Yep. I thought about that. But if the 4-1-4-1 worked against it should work against Hull. And after about 70 minutes when they are tired, Wolves will step it up with Vokes or Iwelumo and take three points. 😆

  2. Just about what I think he will put out, the exception being Milijas. I would not be suprised to see Guediora take his place to add some steel into midfield. UTW !
