Wolves will play with only one striker against Hull

Will Mick McCarthy play 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1 as he did against Liverpool tomorrow away at Hull. that is the big question among the fans today.

Mick gave a hint (or was it a Hunt) 😆 to the Official Wolves site today:

We played 4-4-2 in 19 out of 22 games and we scored 17 goals. We won’t be going to Hull and being ‘gung-ho’. We want to stay in the games and it’s not going to be an easy game. Hull have been playing 4-3-3, 4-5-1, with an extra man in midfield.

The reality is we want to stay in the game, we don’t want to be chasing the game and get done. It’s alright saying we want to win – at the same time we don’t want to lose, that’s for sure.

To me that announcement must mean that McCarthy will play a 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1-formation against Hull tomorrow. I think that is a wise decision.

As he himself mentions Hull does play with only one forward and five in the middle. We must match that or we will lose the midfield to the Tigers. And we cannot afford that. I will be back with the probable starting elevens later today.

  1. If we don’t play 4-4-2 tomorrow, then our manager will be lynched just ahead of kick off, it won’t happen.
