Scott Malone playing with Sanchez Watt for Southend

The loan signing of England under 19’s player Sanchez Watt from Arsenal to Southend was confirmed as late as on Tuesday.

Shrimpers manager Tilson has been keeping eye on Watt for some time, he mentions on the Southend official website:

He plays on the left wing, but can also play on the left side of a three-man attack. That is something we haven’t had in the team for a while, so it’s a good option to have.

Our out on-loan left back Scott Malone has something to say about Sanchez to the Echo, as he is a team-mate to the Arsenal man in the England under 18’s and 19’s teams:

Sanchez is a very good player. He has plenty of flair and he can really get at people. I’m looking forward to him playing for us and he will add plenty of fire to our attack.

The Arsenal loanee looks certain to figure on the left flank and will work closely with Scott.

I think that’s where Sanchez will play so it will be interesting and hopefully we can combine well together. When we’ve been with England he’s been further forward so we haven’t played like that before but I’m sure it will work well.

The Essex derby between Colchester and Southend will not play until Monday night. The pitch at Colchester has been badly cut up by snow and heavy rain over the past two months and at the inspection Tilson said that it was in ‘shocking condition’, reports BBC Essex.

The Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd was a little bit more relaxed and said:

It’s fabulous if you want to grow cabbages and potatoes, it’s not particularly good for football.

I remember Sanchez Watt from the Reserves game against Arsenal. He was very fast. He will prove to be a very good signing for Southend, I’m sure. (I think I have a video link in the right margin below). I wonder how he likes to play in a cabbage field, though. 😆

Let’s hope that it will be a nice derby game anyway. And watch out for that left flank with Sanchez and Malone, Danny Batth – Wolves loanee at the U’s. He will probable sit on the bench, so he could get a good peek.

A tip from me is that Southend will win this match. Colchester did win against Southend away, but Watt could be the signing that the Shrimpers need to get their offensive working.
