Probable Team Lineups and analysis: Wolves vs Tottenham

A Big Match tonight at Molineux! Tottenham are our guests – a team Wolves did beat -against all odds – at White Hart Lane not so long ago. A match that heightened the spirits for many Wolves supporters, including myself. I picked the right starting eleven for Wolves against Birmingham, and I will try my best tonight as well

Tottenham are actually a much better team at home than away. In their last six matches they have been victorious only once. They play another game away, with more long balls to Crouch. If he is heavily marked – I assume by Mancienne first hand – we have disarmed at least one of their major threats.

But there are others. The substitute for Lennon, who is injured – Bentley – will be a threat with his free kicks, crosses and shots at goal. So will Modric and Bale on the other side – their best side in my opinion.

They were by far the best team against Villa latest and only bad luck made them drop two points in that game. But they are a little sloppy when it comes to the attack play, statistics reveals. Many shots, but not so many goes goal-ways.

Wolves need more precision in the final third to win this game. If we had that, we would have won the games against Hull and Birmingham. It is time for our players to show that they have learned all lessons and go out to get results.

Wolves manager talks about the match to Wolves World and the Wolves Official site:

Spurs are arguably a top four side who didn’t enjoy getting beaten by us. I guess revenge would be sweet for them. They might have thought about that coming up the motorway yesterday and will want to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen.

So the revenge factor might add a little bit to it but they’ll be wanting to beat us anyway irrespective of us winning down there. We’ll have to be at our optimum to beat them and hope that they come up here on a bit of an off day like we did at their place.

There was nothing left on the pitch down there and it will have to be the same again. All I know is that the lads are a really competitive group with a great team spirit about themselves. They have been playing well and we have to emphasise the positives and how well we did play. Spurs at home we are the underdogs and punching above our weight again and that will inspire us again.

“They’ve got a very good combination up front. There’s a lot more to Peter Crouch than just being up there holding the ball up – his all round game is a lot better than that. And Defoe is fantastic, a terrific player, but they’ve got far more than that. Sort out Defoe and Crouch and Modric will come up the inside or Bentley will put a cross in or Huddlestone will do something or Palacios. You could go on and on because they’ve got a very good team of top players.”

To the starting eleven, then. I imagine that both Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy are pleased with the teams they had on the pitch in their last games – despite the fact that they did not win.

So they will only make slight changes to the starting eleven from the previous game. Here are the probable teams for the match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspurs tonight:

(Sorry about the poor quality of the sheet. Technical problems)

  1. Heres a preview and a line up:
    http://www.infobettor.com/en/preview/view/2825/wolverhampton_vs_tottenham/

    Milijas is missing. Why?

  2. Sorry, its the expected line up and not the actual line up. Probably based on the last match.

    • Yes. But they have put Bassong in as central defender for Tottenham, but King played very well against Villa so I think he will play.

  3. King won’t be playing mate, will be either Kaboul or Bassong. Just so you know.

  4. Karl vote for Bia to start :=)

  5. If Mujangi Bia starts Paddytheflea will vote for MM to be sacked. 😆

Bia has shown nothing yet, but Adlène Guedioura could meybe be handed a start. But I think it is to early for him as well.

  6. Strong bench! I’m really surprised Mancienne was benched. But I understand the thought behind MM’s action. Henry’s style fits best in an anchor role. Personally I would switch Foley with Milijas or Bia and use Jarvis on the right, because he has a decent right foot too, and MM said earlier on that Milijas also could play on the wing. Maybe I would bench Jones.

  7. Jones scores! 1-0 to Wolves.
