Loan Watch: Daniel Jones played the 90 for Bristol Rovers in win against Charlton

Daniel jones – Wolves recent out on-loan player for Bristol Rovers – played for 90 minutes in his proper position at the left back with his new pals as they managed to win against top team Charlton yesterday evening with 2-1.

And the Pirates played better than in weeks in the Sky-broadcasted game. It was the veteran central defender Elliot that started Rovers goalscoring with a shot after a corner in the 14th minute. After the hour the, also on-loan, striker Paul Heffernan from Doncaster decided the game by a right-footed shot. Charlton got a consolation goal on injury time, but it was a well deserved victory for the Pirates and a good start to Daniel Jones visit at the club.

Bristol Rovers are now on 9th place in League One – but with ten points to a play-off spot they have a long way to go. But listening to their manager they seem to have the will and ambition to reach that goal. And winning against third placed top team Charlton is a good start.

Sadly I didn’t have the time to watch the game myself, and I’ve not found any reports writing about how Daniel Jones did yet. But manager Trollope said after the match to Rovers World that he was pleased with the players on-loan and that they had changed the way they played in a positive way. I’m sure that DJ is included in that praise.

  1. He had a decent, solid, game. Pushed forward a few times and took a couple of free-kicks. He did get skinned once though! I think he will be happy with his display and is certain to improve with more match time. I hope he does well and gets a contract with Rovers out of it.
