Probable Team Lineups: Wolves vs Chelsea FC

It’s time to take a deep breath and think about the starting elevens of Wolves and Chelsea tomorrow at Molineux – the Golden Palace.

It is a no brainer to guess the Wolves team tomorrow. Our manager Mick McCarthy said to the media already a couple of days ago that he would not change anything about the team from the match against Tottenham. Everything clicked int that game and Wolves probably made the best match of the season so far. Since earlier Wolves have Edwards (ankle) Keogh (ankle) and Kightly (ankle and knee) injured. Mancienne is of course not allowed to play, but he wouldn’t have made it into the starting eleven anyway.

Chelsea have had some recent problems with injury (Alex) and viruses (Lampard) so Mr Ancelotti have to think about replacements for those two. Since earlier they have  Cole (ankle), Michael Essien (knee), Jose Bosingwa (knee) Juliano Belletti (knee) and Deco (knee) all sidelined.

Ancelotti have played Ballack and Zhirkow both in the back line and as midfielder before. But iI believe that he will play Zhirkow in the back line, so Ballack will play in the middle.

My squad sheets are still ‘technically reduced’ so it looks like Chelsea are playing in a 4-4-2-formation. More probably their play could be described as a 4-1-2-1-2, with Mikel as the holding midfielder and Cole as the offensive one.

For Wolves Henry will play the holding role and Jones in the offensive position. Guédioura, however, will probably if needed chase back on the right side while Henry will cover the left side in their defensive play.

Doyle will of course be Wolves lone rider at top, but he will have the support of Jarvis and Foley going forward.

This is the probable starting elevens of Wolves and Chelsea.

And a final word to our defence inspired by a rerun of Doctor Who.

  1. I heard joe cole is injured.

  2. Mikel will play holding role, Ballack right mid, Malouda on the left, Cole behind the front two. Alternatively Malouda will play front left as part of a three.

  3. Paddy – no blue text on black background – Please ! Really difficult to read !
