James Astle: We always knew it was going to be tough

Wolves Women reportedly made the best match any team has against the without a doubt best team in their league, Coventry City Ladies. But that was not enough against the league leaders – who took the lead after only two minutes and managed to hold on to it until the end.

It was Hazannah Parnell who got on the end of a cross and  made Wolves Women having to chase the game for the remaining 88 minutes. Manager James Astle summed it up to the Official Site after the game:

We always knew it was going to be tough going away to Coventry, especially after last week’s performance. The girls knew that they had to up their game today. It was how so many of our games have gone this season – we started very slowly, which resulted in Coventry going ahead in only the second minute.”

“We came in at half time disappointed, and everybody took a good long look at themselves and knew what they needed to do in the second half. Then we competed more, played better football, and created a number of chances, but as before, we were already chasing the game, and it sums up our frustration. There’s obviously a reason why Coventry are top of the league and haven’t been beaten yet, but we were the closest team to do that.”
