Pompey first-team coach Groves: Mick’s a real football man

Portsmouth next on Saturday and if anyone thinks that it’s going to be a ‘walk in the Fratton Park’ to beat them – think again.

It’s Pompey’s last match in the Premier League at home for a while and they will be very keen on making a good result in front of their enduring and faithful home crowd. Wolves will get nothing for free and Pompey will probably  play a couple of hungry lads who has the chance to earn themselves a start against Chelsea on Wembley as well.

Their first-team coach Paul Groves is avare of this and has some praise for Wolves (from the Pompey Official Site):

“The games we’ve got are difficult but the aim is to finish the season well. The Wolves game is one we feel we’ve got a good chance of winning. The fans have suffered massively along the way this season and it would be nice to come away with a win and finish on a high at Fratton Park.”

“Wolves are well organised and Mick’s done a terrific job there. He’s a good character and comes across as honest and hard-working – a real football man. I’ve seen them on a few occasions. He’s got them well organised and they’ve got a great work ethic. It’s a credit to Mick, his staff and the players that they’ve got themselves safe.”

To be honest I would be very pleased if we could take one point home from that game, but my guess is that Pompey are very motivated to bring a victory to their fans and finish at home on a high.
