Wolves Women warm up for final with 5-1 victory

I’ve neglected the Women lately. I’m truly sorry about that.

The Sunday before last they played Radcliffe Olympics at home and Anna Perks made Wolves Women win by a goal as she headed in a corner in the 41st minute.

And then they played against Copsewood Coventry yesterday. And they were on the roll from the beginning of the game as Selmes netted after just three minutes after a corner. Despite many chances the first half ended with only one goal.

The Women started the second half as they started the first. Thomas kicked the ball up all the way to Sophie Richards, who did no mistake alone with the Copsewood keeper.

A minute later Wolves scored their third as Bavington passed the ball to substitute Sophie Walker who found the net with a volley.

In the 77th minute Hayley Packer robbed the ball from the opponents keeper and could easily score Wolves fourth goal for the day. But just four minutes later Copsewood got their consolation goal after a scramble in the area.

But Wolves Women finished on a high as Walker was brought down in the box and Selmes made it five for Wolves from the spot.

Yesterdays fine win must heighten the Womens confidence, manager Astle believes. And that is needed because they take on Birmingham City Ladies in the Birmingham County Cup Final tomorrow (Wednesday the 5th). The game will be played at Solihull Moors FC, DamsonPark, Damson Parkway, Solihull, B91 2PP with a 7.30pm kick-off. Everything about that final HERE

WOLVES WOMEN: Thomas, Large (Walker 45), Durnall (Seeley 66), Perks (Widdal 70), Salter, Morris, Bavington, Quick, Selmes, Richards, Packer.
