Awards, Awards, Awards! Craddock Fans Player Of The Season

Yesterday night the End Of Season Dinner was held and the main event of interest were of course the awards.

The first award given was Academy Player Of The Year. Three nominees in the category; Nat Mendez-Laing, James Spray and Nathan Rooney. The same three players that in March signed professional senior contracts with Wolves.

The Winner is Nathan Rooney. Academy Manager Kevin Thelwell talked about Rooney’s qualities and describes him as a “real leader”.

I would like to conclude that his qualities became obvious to all when he scored a hat-trick against West Brom a few days ago. But you could choose from anybody of these three young starlets. They are all pure quality!

The second award was the Young Professional Of The Season. Scott Malone, Danny Batth and David Davis were nominated. All three has been out on-loan this season and I have reported about their progress many times.

Winner is Danny Batth and Mick McCarthy and Development Coach Steve Weaver praised Batth’s qualities.

I agree. A good choice. Batth played very well for Colchester – a very good team in the upper half of League One – and he was praised by their manager Aidy Boothroyd as well.

And then they handed away the Express & Star Fan Of The Year Award. The winner was Shaun Porter from Wombourne. It is unknown for me why he was picked.

The fourth award handed out was the Champagne Moment Of The Season and contenders were; Win at Wigan, Win at Tottenham and Win at West Ham. The winner baecame the Win at West Ham.

For the next award handed out there were no nominees. It was the Top Goalscorer Award and it of course went to Kevin Doyle with eight goals so far in the league (I’m still hoping for double numbers, Kevin!).

Then came the heavy Players Player Of The Season award and nominated were Jody Craddock, Kevin Doyle and Karl Henry. And the winner is…Kevin Doyle!

Very good. It shows that he is not only our best goalscorer, but also very appreciated and liked among his friends in the team.

The seventh award for the night was the award for Goal Of The Season. There were seven nominations for this award and the winner is Nenad Milijas for his goal against Bolton. But he beat David Jones goal against Tottenham with only one vote.

At last came another heavy award. The Fans Player Of The Season. Nominees were Jody Craddock, Kevin Doyle, Marcus Hahnemann and Karl Henry. And the winner is…Jody Craddock!

I believe that was a good decision by the jury – the fans that has voted – and I agree completely that he is the player of the season. Without Jody Craddock we would have been relegated to Championship play next year. Jody has made the season of his life in exactly the right moment of his career. Thank you!
