Fletcher close to sign for Wolves

BBC Scotland wrote last night that the Burnley striker Steve Fletcher is engaged in talks with Wolves about a transfer. That implies that Burnley and Wolves has agreed on a fee.

It appears that the rumours about the prolific Scot striker being wanted by Wolves are true, then. BBC would of course not write like that if they don’t have the facts checked and checked again. The source named for the rumour is simply “Burnley”.

The talks with the player is said to continue on Thursday and I guess we can expect a signing after a medical in the weekend, then?!

Steven Fletcher is 23 years of age and born in Shrewsbury. He is a Scotland international with seven cups. He came to Burnley from Hibernian for a fee of £3 million last season and scored eight goals in the Premier League.

The rumour is that he will cost Wolves £8 million, but I believe that is exaggerated.

  1. Everything moves according to MM’s plan. If we get Fletcher, N’daw and a winger I raise my expectations for the next season.
A mid table position should be realistic if we’re optimistic, and if we avoid injuries. Last season we really had some injury blows. I also expect our talents, Kightly & Co, to develop further.
The future is gold and black

  2. Must admit I didn’t really take much notice of Fletchers exploits last season, but then again I can say the same about Doyle whilst he was at Reading. I’m hoping for the same result!!
I agree Karl – a few more pieces in the jigsaw and a mid table finish is more than achievable.

  3. Well, great news imv. Fletcher has now signed a 4 year contract with us. So far we have strengthened the forward line and defence. We just need to add another midfielder and a winger (or two) and possibly a goalie if Hennessey goes out on loan to Burnley (season long loan?) and we are ready for the new season imo.

    Up The Wolves.
