Posh Nat Mendez-Laing causes problems for Portuguese side
As last season I have the intention to follow both our young ones and Wolves Women this season aswell. If I will have the time, that is.
I believe that I reported to you a long time ago that Doncaster Rovers signed George Friend and also that Daniel Jones ended up among the Owls.
But I’m not sure that I mentioned that Mark Little now plays for Posh. And with him – out on-loan for the season from Wolves – is Nat Mendez-Laing – our talented 19-year-old right winger who had a fantastic season last.
Nat and Mark and their newfound footballing friends of Posh have been in Portugal for the weekend. They had a training camp and even a match against the Portugal first division side Olhanense. They lost with 2-0, but the result is of course not at all important in pre-season.
Mendez-Laing played in the first half and is mentioned on the Posh Official site:
“It was the pace of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing that caused plenty of early problems for the Portuguese side and it was his forceful run that created a chance for George Boyd, but as he cut inside, he was brought down on the edge of the area. Grant McCann took the free-kick from a wide area, but the goalkeeper punched clear.”
“Mendez-Laing showed he has pace to burn after knocking the ball past the full-back, giving him a five-yard head-start and bursting into the area, but the centre back managed to close the angle down and his shot was therefore weak.”
Sounds like he made quite an impression in his first game in the Posh shirt. It is also possible to watch that second run of Nat mentioned above if you have a prescription for the Wolves Player (good enough for the Posh player as well, haha) HERE
It looks like Peterborough United has quite a good outfit of players this season – aiming at bouncing back up to the Championships. And they have plenty of pace in the team – Mendez-Laing of course being one of the pacier guys in the team.
I’ve always liked his style and hope he will make success and grow in Posh and then come back to challenge for a wing position at Wolves. So good luck for the season, Nat!
