Little & Mendez-Laing Posh co-op saw Diamonds off

Peterborough United yesterday saw off Rushden & Diamonds with a 3-1 away win.

The for the season out on-loan Wolves player Nat Mendez-Laing played in front of former Wolves player Mark Little on the right side.

Like Wolves Posh scored their first after only six minutes. Mendez-Laing started to make his patented rushes along the right side early on in the game and nearly made a second goal when he builded an attack together with Maclean. But George Boyd’s right-footed effort went over the crossbar.

With about half an hour gone the boys from Wolves demonstrated how much of a threat they can be on the counter attack when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing won the ball by the half way line and with a fine turn and run outpaced the defender and lay the ball off to the over-lapping Little, who fired the ball into the far corner. 2-0 to Posh.

R&D however reduced the Posh lead ten minutes later when Aaron O’Connor launched  a clever lob to James McKeown who scored after turning Little.

The third goal for Posh apparently was a beauty. Midfielder Charlie Lee bursted from midfield and sent a delicious chip over goalkeeper Roberts from a tight angle and into the back of the net. 3-1 to Peterborough United.

Nat Mendez-Laing played almost the game – 87 minutes – and seem to become a regular starter for Posh this season. I’ve looked a little into the Posh forums and the fans like him very much. This will be a crucial season for the young winger and I will follow his development and cheer him on.

  1. Sounds good.
I’m glad the young Wolves are showing their potential while on loan, and hopefully Mick keeps good track of the pair.
I don’t want him to let go of Nat either.
He seems like an amazing player.

  2. Thanks for the update on their progress Paddy – appreciated.

  3. glad to see the youngsters doing well, they are the future.
talking of which, i’ve not heard anything of zele ismail for a while. any news on him flea?

    • Nope, rob. They are protecting him and our other youngsters very effectively from the media. He’s last season was trashed with injury so let’s hope he gets to be injury free this one so he can develop further.
