Doyle ruled out tonight and so is Edwards

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle is ruled out for tonights Republic of Ireland game against Argentina.

His calf injury stops him from playing tonight and my guess is that we will not see him on Saturday for Wolves against Stoke in the opening Premier League game either.

Doyle to the press in Ireland earlier:

I need to play some part tonight if I’m to have a chance of playing on Saturday because I didn’t play for Wolves at the weekend. Mick is actually hoping I get to play at some stage and get some minutes. He wants to see me on the field, but I won’t risk it either. It’s dragged on for a week and hasn’t got any better.”

Liam Lawrence is also ruled out and the starting eleven will be this:

Given (Manchester City)
McShane (Hull City), Dunne (Aston Villa), O’Shea (Manchester United), Kilbane (Hull City)
Fahey (Birmingham), Andrews (Blackburn Rovers), Green (Derby County), Duff (Fulham)
Keane (Tottenham), Sheridan (Celtic)

And Edwards is also  out from the Wolves friendly against Luxembourg tonight and probably on Saturday. The reason is a groin injury.

With Vokes earlier reported injured the only Wolves player available for Wales will be Wayne Hennessey.

What is happening? I don’t like this!

  1. A Good chance then that Doyle misses game against Stoke. I would have loved him to play, but so much will rest on his performances this season and there’s no point playing if you’re not 100 percent.
