Guess Who’s coming to dinner?!
Wolves and Chelsea FC today confirmed that Michael Mancienne has signed for a third season on loan to Wolves.
As I wrote yesterday (HERE) the deal was about to happen when Chelsea gave up on selling him on a permanent for £5 or even £6 million.
Our next opponents in the Premier League Newcastle United were also interested in signing him, but he made the right choice.
I believe he will do a good job when we opt to play with a defensive midfielder to guard the back four. He has done that very well before and he knows the club and the guys and seem to enjoy playing for Wolves.
McCarthy and Moxey played the waiting game very well and came out as the winners on this one. Jez Moxey said to the official Wolves site:
“We did speak to Chelsea about the possibility of a permanent deal but in the end it was decided that the best course of action was another season long loan. Michael was happy to do that, and although he had other alternatives, decided to come back to Wolves.”
With Keogh also confirmed signing on loan to Cardiff Wolves now have the 25 man squad sorted out.
Unless Carl Ikeme will not be in it?! Maybe the club will let the Development keeper be our third and the squad could have one place left for another striker. But my guess would be – as I wrote yesterday – that Vokes will be called back.
