Loan Watch: The Hoff and Natty Laing
Some players out on-loan seem to fare very well while others are not.
Natty Mendez-Laing were nowhere to be seen when Posh lost away to Tranmere today. Looking about a little I noticed that he got injured in training in the week. Fortunately it’s not a severe injury and his knee will be alright again in a couple of weeks.
Former Wolves player Mark Little has had surgery and he is ruled out for about four weeks. So no wonder they lose when no Wolves-players are available. 😆
In Germany, though, Stefan Maierhofer seem to have a very nice time. After scoring a brace with his head against Ingolstadt, making MSV Duisburg the leaders of the German second division he was named as the big German football paper ‘Kicker’s’ ‘Man Of The Day’.
“The giant secured the entire airspace. Good running work, lots of visibility and always a goal threat. The club seem to have made a really good catch with the striker.”
And The Hoff himself said to Kicker:
“Super Arena, great fans, terrific atmosphere in the team, I feel really comfortable here. I place myself in the service of the team, that’s my philosophy.“
He also talked to the press about going to the barber the day before the game and that he got some sort of head massage there. He seem to believe that this made him play better so he will do this before every game now. 😆
And of course his success in Germany has not gone unnoticed in his home country Austria. The Hoff is in the squad for their Euro qualifying match against Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
The question I ask myself now is if Wolves maybe should have kept the Hoff in the team instead of shipping him out on-loan and taking in Marcus Bent instead.
But there are many good players on the continent that doesn’t ever make it in Britain and I suppose The Hoff can be one of them, despite his success elsewhere.
