Injury Update: He should be fine and OK for Saturday

Mick McCarthy (finally!) today gave an update of the injuries among the players of Wolves and it seems as Steven Fletcher and Jelle Van Damme have a good chance of being involved on Saturday against Fulham.

This is McCarthy said about Fletcher talking to the Official Wolves Site:

Fletch came back because Scotland didn’t want to inject the injury and take any risks which is good for us really He trained with us yesterday and came back because his foot was sore but there’s nothing badly wrong, it’s just bruising. If he needs an injection to play he will so he should be fine and ok for Saturday. There are certainly no problems with the SFA – we sent him with a view to playing but they didn’t want to risk him. We’ll try and get him right for Saturday.”

And this is what he said about JVD:

Jelle is here being looked after by the medical team. He’s not really training, just getting his physio ahead of getting back running and back so he’s ok. It’s still the ankle which he originally against Stoke. I’m hoping he’ll be alright.

Doesn’t sound as positive as with Fletcher, but on his way back anyway and we’ve got some days left for recovery. Finally another Steven – our central defender Steven Mouyokolo – is getting fit to go aswell.

Steven has trained and is fine. He just needs to do more training now and play some reserve games. It’s unfortunate that when you go to a new club this sometimes happens – but he’s alright and he trained fully yesterday.

Sounds fine to me. You’ll never now when he will be needed, as hard as forwards handle our central defenders these days. Stephen Hunt seems to be back a little before schedule – according to the McCarthy report today – aswell:

We’ve got five games coming up with the Carling Cup tie and then we get another two-week break. He’s probably looking at being fit sooner rather than later, but if we get him back after that two-week break and if he was fit to start that would be fantastic. That’s what we’re probably aiming at.”

No news about Kightly today, but the reports about him going to Reading is probably much premature. We just have to have patience with his recovery. My stance today regarding Kights is to expect nothing and then I will be pleasantly surprised if something positive happens.

There are reasons to be happy about the future and power of Wolves anyway. Looking forward to the end of this too long break! 😆
