Injury report and cup team
Mick McCarthy has been early in mentioning the starting eleven that will play against Notts County in the League Cup tomorrow.
The confirmed Wolves starting eleven:
————- Hennessey ————–
Stearman – Mouyokolo – Berra – Elokobi
– Foley – Guedioura – – Milijaš – Halford
——- Bent – Ebanks-Blake ——-
McCarthy also revealed – on a press conferance today – that Hemmings will be on the bench, but that no players from the Development Team will figure.
He also said that Danny Batth and Sam Winnall – who otherwise could have been involved tomorrow – have niggling injuries.
And – what is probably worse – that Edwards injured his ankle in training today and that Van Damme has a calf injury and that Matt Jarvis has a groin problem injury that hinders him from competing tomorrow. And Ron Zubar is still injured (ankle).
Mick McCarthy also especially stated that he would love for Wolves to have a good cup run.
I’m gutted about Edwards – and of course Matt Jarvis’s and Van Damme’s injuries. But this is how it is for most teams in the league. Maybe especially for midfielders and wingers.
But we should be very happy that Steven Mouyokolo is back from injury and ready to make his debut alongside Berra against Notts County. And it’s the first match from start for Bent in Old Gold and Black.
Bent and Ebanks-Blake is actually an interesting couple upfront. They may very well complement each other well – Bent being the target player and SEB the sniper. And this is a good chance to test them together.
The midfield also looks exciting. Two very creative lads in the middle that gets far to few chances in the Premier League as others are more ‘safe’ to play.
But we know that Milijas and Guédioura are two very talented players in finding ways to move forward. But can they stop League One team Notts County from going forward? That is a question we will have an answer to tomorrow.
The match will start at 7.45pm tomorrow at Molineux.
Oh – and watch out and keep your breath (for tomorrow) – Lee Hughes will surely play upfront for Notts and he scored a brace latest in the league for his team and is reported to be back to winning ways – whatever that means.
