Loan Watch: So how’s The Hoff Doin’? (Video)

So how’s the Hoff doin’?

Well, he played last night at home for MSV Duisburg against FC Augsburg . And they did well.

The reports says they were ‘superior’ to the Bavarian team for long stretches of the game. but had a hard time taking advantage of their superiority by scoring.

After seventeen minutes Baljak – the striker who is paired with Stefan Maierhofer – came close after a free, but the Augsburg keeper made a fine save.

After that they pressured Augsburg hard, not letting the guests get possession of the ball, but it came to nothing. And the second half continued in the same way, with only one team on the pitch.

In the 48th minute Baljak ran forward with the ball on the left wing,  trying to cross to The Hoff on the right, but an Augsburg defender came in-between, hitting the right post when breaking the pass.

Ten minutes into the second half Yilmaz passed the ball to Trojan, who passed it on to Baljak. From a tight angle he brilliantly placed the ball into the net.

Five minutes later Baljak had another chance, but this time he curled the ball wide of the right post.

Fifteen minutes before the end of the game Maierhofer had a chance to score, but he headed the ball over the crossbar.

Baljak had a couple of chances towards the end of the game, but the match ended with an only goal advantage to “the Zebra’s”, despite that they were by far the better team in this match.

I’ve found a clip with some of the situations written about above – and the goal, of course:

The Hoff and MSV Duisburg will take on Union Berlin away next on Sunday. They are now next to last in the second ‘Bundesliga’. MSV Duisburg are on third place.

Maybe we will see The Hoff score on Sunday?!
