Loan Watch: Keogh came close and Nat scored
Many of our players out on-loan have played tonight and I just thought I’ll do a short summary about it.
Andy Keogh made his debut for Bristol City against Swansea in the Championship. They lost the home game with 2-0, but Andy was very close to score about halfway into the first half but the Swansea keeper saved on the line. Portsmouth – with Greg Halford playing from start – also lost with 2-0, to high-flying QPR.
In League One Peterborough United played an eight goal game against Sheffield Wednesday. It was 3-2 to the Owls already after 35 minutes and they kept the lead until Boyd equalised for Posh with quarter of an hour left.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing came on from the bench after the hour and tem minutes from the end he smashed the ball in the net from up close high up to the right. 4-3 to Posh and they made it 5-3 at added time. Hopefully Nat Mendez-Laing will get some more playing time in the future.
In League Two John Dunleavy sat on the bench and could see the fog role in before the match between Aldershot and Barnet was stopped at half time. By then it was one all, but it is rumoured that Aldershot had a second goal in the net at the end of the first half, but nobody could see it. The match will be played again.
But it was Davies who came on top as Shrewsbury could win comfortably with 3-0. Davies and Malone were both very active in the game and I’m sure that Davies will do as well for Shrewsbury as Malone has done so far in Burton.
The Hoff had a cold and did not play when Duisburg only managed a draw against 1860 Munich Friday. The will play against Erzgebirge Aue on Sunday and they have been drawn against Energie Cottbus in the semi-finals in the cup, played on March the 1st. That means a good chance for a ticket to the finals in Berlin – probably against Bayern Munich.
And that’s about it. Big day tomorrow. I’ll be back about that.
