Full Injury Report: Kightly back against Aston Villa

Mostly good news about the injury situation today from the club.

But Dave Edwards will be out for a month with his back problems. It’s a pity as he probably was playing the best football of his life before the injury.

Stephen Hunt has had a setback with his calf injury after coming back in training and he will need another week or two to recover. He will in my opinion be a very valuable player in the run in. He’s got the spirit and the work rate to give us extra strength.

Ron Zubar is back in France and will have an injection there and will hopefully be back to the Villa game.

Michael Mancienne will be back at Wolverhampton next week and hopefully ready to resume to full training. He will probably need some Reserves games to get match fit, having been out for so long.

Adlène Guédioura is back in full training today and trained with the Development Team last week. His sights are set on a come-back against Newcastle after a long recovery due to his broken leg. It would be nice to see Adlène on the pitch this season and he could mean a difference in tight games.

Michael Kightly played for one half in the Reserves game against Manchester United and for an hour against Blackburn – including scoring a goal. McCarthy watched both games and thinks that Michael will definitely be ready to play – if not from start – against Aston Villa.

To those who believes it’s too early I would like to say that he then will have been fully in training for a month and played three Reserves games – probably for the whole game in the next. Rejoice!

So. More to be glad at then sad at. Just the way I like it! I’ll be back with a report about our out-on-loan players today or later this week.

Up the Wolves!

  1. it’s great that we seem to be getting some key players back at the right time.

Should we pick up injuries to some of the first team, the players coming back gives confidence that we will be ok to avoid the drop.
