Three goals by Wolves in win against Walsall (video)
Wolves went victorious when they played local lads Walsall yesterday. 3-2 was the final score, not that it does matter that much.
The goals came from Michael Kightly (14) Leigh Griffiths (40) and Christophe Berra (66). Not the kind of goalscorers one could expect, but it’s nice when everybody chip in. It is good that Griffiths scored and played well as he is in need of suitors to go out on loan for the season. He has things to learn before he can compete seriously for a place among Wolves first class strikers. Hopefully some championship club will be interested in him.
It is of course also fantastic to see Kights score after so many months of injury problems. He looks to be fit as a fiddle now. Hopefully this will last all season and McCarthy will have four fantastic wingers to chose from.
Christophe Berra has tried and tried to get a goal for two seasons now and I hope this is a signal that he will continue to score on set pieces in the league. It looks to me like it’s gonna be Berra and Johnson in central defence as first choice.
Stearman will fight with Zubar for the right back position and Foley may be involved there, but if there will be no new signing coming on to the inner midfield I believe Foley will fight for a place there first hand.
Here is the video with goals from the Walsall game. A good run from Elokobi and a very nice cross from Hunty. Craddock has to take some blame for the second Walsall goal.
Wolves : Hennessey (Ikeme 62), Stearman (Jarvis 62), Elokobi (Kostrna 62), Foley (Milijaś 45), Batth (Johnson 45), Craddock (Berra 62), Kightly (Hammill 62), Henry (Davis 62), Ebanks-Blake (Keogh 62), Griffiths (Doyle 45), Hunt (Ward 45).
