More Wolves players in Teams Of The Week

Wolves recent success is very much due to a team effort, but never the same a team is made up by individual players whose importance and skills differ from week to week.

This week Garth Crooks of the BBC has picked two Wolves players into his Team Of The Week:

Not bad for a small-town team that struggled in the league last season, eh?!

About Roger Johnson Garth writes:

“I love to see centre-halves who have influence in both boxes. Marshalled the Wolves to their second consecutive victory. Solid in defence and his sheer presence in attack seemed to unnerve the Fulham defence.

Consistent and dependable. Johnson made five interceptions versus Fulham, only three Premier League players made more this weekend.”

And about our midfield ace Jamie O’Hara:

“A typically hard working performance from the former Spurs midfielder. O’Hara seemed to be at the heart of every attack and defended when necessary. The best start to a season for Wolves that I can remember.

O’Hara completed 83% of his passes and produced five shots, matching his best ever total in a Premier League game, which he has achieved twice before (once for Spurs, once for Portsmouth.)”

If that shouldn’t be enough to show that Wolves have quality among their ranks the Barclay’s Official Premier League site includes a third Wolves player, Matt Jarvis, in their Team Of The Week writing:

“Set up Kevin Doyle for the first against Fulham before scoring the second himself.”

As you probably know I rated Stephen Hunt my Star Player for the match against Fulham, so the final conclusion must be that many players in Wolves are performing really well – among the very best in the Premier League – at the moment. May it long continue!
